Teachers at Kids Planet Child Development Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Corina Barraza
My name is Corina Barraza and I am the Director, here at Kids Planet Child Development Center. I was born in California, where the majority of my family still lives. My father served in the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic for 20 years before retiring. My mother worked for the Children Services Food Program in Victorville, California until she left to become a home child care provider. In 1992 after my father’s retirement, the family moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico. My mother continued home child care where all my family was involved. I attended and graduated from Alamogordo High School in 2000 and continued my academic career at the University of New Mexico in Las Cruces. I graduated early with an Associate in Art and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I quickly found employment at a counseling center where I worked as a Behavior Modification Specialist for children and adolescents. My parents decided to open up a childcare center in Alamogordo. I began as an Infant Teacher and ended as the Assistant Director. After three years at Children’s World CDC I moved out of state for a few years. When I returned to New Mexico, I decided to put roots down in Albuquerque, and with the help of my parents, I open Kids Planet CDC. Since May 2015, we have been providing quality care for the children in Albuquerque.

Sayra Chaparro
Hello, my name is Sayra Chaparro, I am 34 years old, and I have been working for Kids Planet Child Development for more than 6 years. I have been the teacher in our 2 year old classroom and with the Pre-K 4yr old classroom and there I was for a year with them and it was one of the most beautiful experiences because one learns so much from them. At these young age’s children experience every type of emotions and risks and helping them I learned how to work with each temperament of each child as well. I have returned to be a lead teacher in the toddler classroom and it helped me a lot to have been with the older children because with these children I have learned how to relate more with them and how to attend to their needs. I have earned my Child Development Certificate and am continuing my education to get my associate.

Karina Pizarro
Hello, my name is Ana Karina Pizarro, I am 32 years old; I have a Bachelor degree from Mexico in Social Work. For 2 years I worked in the health sector and 1 year in the social assistance department for a government agency.
In 2019 I obtained my Child Development certificate with a specialty in Infants and Preschool. I am still attending CNM to obtain an Associate in Early Education and move on to getting my Bachelor in Early Childhood Education.
I started working at Kids Planet CDC in 2017 as a babyroom teacher where I stayed for approximately 1 year. I then ventured to the toddler class for another year and then shifted to the preschool classrooms where I have been ever since.
My goal is to finish my degree and continue attending and participating in interactive courses that help me enrich my knowledge and abilities as a teacher to be able to provide better inclusive and quality learning to my next students.

Hello, my name is Eduwigis, but everyone calls me Mrs. Edu. I began working at Kids Planet in 2022 as a Toddlers teacher. With training and continued education I have moved to work with the Preschool children.
As a early childhood educator this is not just a job for me, this means so much more. I work with incredible teachers and can say that my colleagues who are now my friends, they support me and help me to be better teacher. I am currently studying to obtain my certifications at CNM. I am continuing to develop as a Teacher and feel that my experience in the toddler class has helped prepare me for working with 3 and 4-year-olds.
What I love most about my daily life at Kids Planet is seeing that my children arrive happily at the center and leave the same knowing that the next day we will have the same and/or better, incredible time. It is very important for me to feel the support and interest of parents with our work reflected in their children. I feel very proud to be part of Kids Planet Child Development Center.
